Imagined Landscapes & Sonic Topographies
This series of parametric digital drawings is rooted in observations from remote regions of Oman, including Jabal Akhdar, Jabal Shams and the Al Ayn Beehive Tombs. The terraced mountainsides and distinctive geological formations informed early sketches that explored organic contours and natural geometries. Listening to wind moving through valleys introduced ideas of vibration and frequency, creating a link between the landscape’s physical forms and its acoustic qualities. These impressions converge in the drawings, where layered lines generate moiré-like patterns that echo both terrain and sound. This investigation began in 2011, continued in 2018 through new digital explorations, and remains ongoing as I plan to return to Oman to develop an expanded version 2.0.
